Men’s Journal serves us some quick truths on the topic: “Women don’t love having to guess which guy you are in your photos. They definitely find it creepy if you’re shirtless in all your photos. And yes, they care about the clothes you wear in your photos—more than you realize.”
You don’t necessarily need to plan out a photoshoot just to take a bunch of pictures for some girl or guy you haven’t even met yet, but you should at least be mindful of what you’re wearing when you pick these selected photos out for your profile. After all, these pictures are projections of who you are.

Think of the order to arrange your photos and start with an outdoorsy one that fits in with the current season - as this is the first image someone will have of you. Go for a more casual but still put-together look with activewear (preferably no sweatpants) and a pop of color.
Next think of something that gives off an easy, everyday vibe. Sure, the business getup is a great look - but it’s not relatable. The person behind the swiping wants to see someone who looks approachable, and it’s much easier to imagine what a first meeting would look like if you’re not sporting a three piece suit. Repeat after me: T-Shirt and Jeans.
For a blend between informal and too formal, find a photo from an outing - or take one before you go out next. Corduroy and a button down are the perfect pairing to show style without overdoing it.
For a quick summary, remember to show a variety of pictures. No one wants to see four pictures of you from the same day, in the same outfit. Show that you’re diverse yet relatable. Keep the shirtless pictures to an absolute minimum. Seriously, you’re better than that. Know your angles and what looks good on you.
Remember, it only takes a few seconds for someone to swipe. Give off an impression that’s intriguing.
